cars produced

We have been unable to find a complete listing of kits and cars produced by Blakely Auto Works. The first production run of Bantams was (15). There is also a document listing the number of kits produced in 1974(13), 1975(18), 1976(22), in 1977(26) and, in 9 months of 1978(27) with a projection of increasing growth through 1981 resulting from the new emphasis on marketing Art brought to the company. By assuming that from 1972-1975 a handful of cars were sold locally each year, we could speculate that from 1972-1981 Blakely Auto Works may have sold between 200-250 Bantam and Bearcat kits. The new Bernardi likely resulted in increased sales. We do not, however, have any information about sales or sales projections from 1982 through 1987.

Blakely Design developed 2 Ceres cars and 5 Baron bodies. One of those bodies was re-designed and became the Blakely E-Class. The molds made from the E-Class were used to produce only 1 more car -  Dick's car (now believed to be in Arizona).

owner testimonials

From his first involvement with Blakely Auto Works, Art Herschberger exploited all opportunities for marketing the Blakely brand. Customers were asked to share their experience and their stories of building a Blakely. This is one of many letters received over the years.
